Here's an overview of what we will be discussing in the
HSP-Non-HSP Relationship Teleclass:
The HSP-Non-HSP Relationship
This can be a challenging relationship or can be uniquely complimentary to each person -- one of the keys? Honoring differences! (Jacquelyn and Elaine Aron have both been in HSP-Non-HSP relationships for 28 and 30 years respectively.)
We will learn four challenges facing HSP-Non-HSP Couples and the role the HSP needs to embrace to not only keep themselves healthy and happy, but also how this important role serves the relationship and family as well.
I. Intimacy and How to Achieve It
· Defining "intimacy" - handout included
· The importance of identifying and sharing feelings
II. Individual and Belonging
· Being true to one's sense of self, authenticity and integrity
· Honoring differences
· Defining Strengths, focusing on strengths, not weaknesses
What strengths does the HSP bring?
What strengths does the Non-HSP bring?
· To Know and Be Known
The Importance of Family Meetings (handout included)
II. Conflict

· Are conflicts successful resolved?
· The importance of "Clearings" - especially for the HSP partner - (handout on "Clearings" included)
IV. Power
· Is the relationship between to equals?
· Defined as the ability to initiate change on behalf of one's self and others
Important Principles in the HSP-Non-HSP Relationship
1 Focus on Needs, Not Approval
2 To Know and Be Known
3 To see conflict as a positive force for change
4 Happy, healthy marriages are made up of happy healthy people
5 Being happy and healthy is a personal responsibility
6 Behavior is learned and can be unlearned
Resources: A list of recommended reading will be included.
This HSP-Non-HSP Relationship teleclass will be a dialogue between those of us on the call. I will be incorporating the information on the above four challenges and the principles as we go along.
Please bring with you to the call:
· your most challenging situations in the HSP-Non-HSP relationship
· your most rewarding situations or experiences in the HSP-Non HSP relationship
And preferably, because we HSPs tend to enjoy ample processing time, I would appreciate hearing some of your more challenging or rewarding HSP-Non-HSP experiences before the teleclass. Send them to me at: womenoutdoors@yahoo.com with HSP Teleclass listed in the subject line.
Thank you! I look forward to meeting you on the call,
