Today's Picture to Ponder Photos
Unidentified Seed Pod with Gecko crawling on it in the American Orchid Society Gardens
The above pod caught my eye on our recent walk in the AOS gardens. I was impressed by both its size and its seeming isolation. It was when I started zooming in on the pod that the gecko became noticeable.
Ultimately I choose to feature the first photo in Picture to Ponder today because of the overall feeling emanating from the lights and shadows.
I appreciate the second photo, especially, for the directions and contrast in the lines and shapes. For those who enjoy looking for the faces I find, I did see a couple here, or partial ones, in the browns on the ground.
The repetititon of textures, colors and shapes in the gecko and the pod are what make the third photo fun for me. It reminds me of "Rhino's Butt," a photo/drawing I did several years ago.
You can see the Rhino on a RHINO TILE in my Nature Art Gift Shop.
At the time I took the photo, I was intrigued with the repetition of textures in the rhino's hide and on the floor and walls in his surroundings.
As I mention the gift shop, it occurs to me that some of you, particularly with young sons, might enjoy the truck art section, one of the most popular in the shop. Yesterday I uploaded several of the photo/drawings onto year-at-a-glance calendars. The latter are wonderful, approximately, 9 X 12 inch prints which you can cut off the calendar and frame. See TRUCK ART.
Self-Reflecting Queries
Today's photos suggest two different queries. As we know, sometimes the similarity in colors and patterns of insects and animals to the environments in which they reside are a form of camouflage.
I now invite you to look
, "Are there places in your life where you are consciously 'blending in' with your attire and/or your spoken or unspoken words, in ways such that you will not be noticed?" Perhaps there are not-so-conscious patterns?
Conversely, what are the practices that you have that have you "stand out?"
And, in a totally different exercise, I invite you once again to look around you in the upcoming days and discover things you haven't seen before. Make note of what visually excites you. At the same time, I invite you to tune in to the sounds that catch your attention.
As always, have fun with this and your discoveries.
