Today's Picture to Ponder Photos
an abandoned Jeep, or is it?
Actually these photographs are of a weir, a structure to manually control the flow of water, in a section of Wakodahatchee Wetlands.
This is obviously visible on all of our walks at Wakodahatchee and the other day, for the first time, it caught my eye from a distance. I had the flash feeling of viewing an abandoned car/jeep.
I, of course, knew what it was and I stopped anyway to photograph that which initially caught my attention (the first photo above). I then zoomed in with my camera for a close-up. As we continued our walk, I photographed several other views.
Interestingly in the second photo it's the green between the jeep's "windows" that becomes the focal point. Aesthetically, it's the third photo that I find most pleasing. I love the variations in the colors in the wood and the contrasts of the very strong horizontal and vertical lines.
Lastly, you'll note a link for a lovely opening hibiscus featured in a much earlier issue of Picture to Ponder.
The flower popped out for me as I was researching to ascertain that weir was the correct name of this structure. I initially considered adding it as a fourth photo today for those who like to see flowers in Picture to Ponder.
Self-Reflecting Queries
Today's photos offer yet another example of the possibilities which open up when we pay attention to what's in front of us, including viewing the scene from several perspectives. There is also the reminder of the times and things we see, but never really do.
Might there currently be something right in front of you visually, or in a situation, that you have not have seen before? Would discovering it make a difference?
It may seem that the questions over the past several issues have beeb repetitive. A former subscriber, as she unsubscribed, wrote that the queries were getting stale. This was several months ago and it still stays with me as I attempt at times to look for something "different."
It's becoming obvious to me that these are the themes that I feel are significant in my life. What other themes are there? Are you aware of those in your own life that forge the paths of possibility and transformation for you?
Lastly, for today, in a totally different direction, there is the theme of "people-pleasing." How much of your life do you spend trying to please others, especially doing things you think they want without ever even checking?
The two examples in today's issue of Picture to Ponder are the former subscriber's comment and then the one on the thought I have that people want to see "pretty" and flowers. For the latter I struck a compromise (with myself) and included a link to satisfy that assumption on my part.
For the former, "being repetitive," I'm learning to accept that I do what I do and it will please some and not others. It's okay. The important thing is to be true to our selves.
Is there anywhere in your life right now where you are operating on what you think will satisfy others? If so, I invite you to step back and look at what will best serve you.
APOLOGIES
If you were one who experienced a challenge in ordering Banana Sky DVD in response to the separate mailing on Thursday, please accept my apologies for any frustrations and inconvenience this caused for you. I invite you now to go back to the DVD order page to process it anew.
Thanks to several subscribers who wrote informing me of a problem, a very helpful PayPal technician and I were able to ultimately identify and fix it. Everything is now in working order.

For those who experienced this challenge and gave up (I would have), when you get to the final payment page there is a comment box. Simply note in there that you attempted ordering last week, or e-mail me directly to let me know. I will include with your order an added bonus of a blank note card with my prize-winning banana pod photo/drawing. The 5"X7" card is suitable for framing.
