Today's Picture to Ponder Photo
Lady Slipper (Paphiopedilum) orchid in the American Orchid Society greenhouse
I always find the Lady Slippers fascinating because of the faces that I always see, just above the "pouch."
The appeal for me today in this photo is the overall setting. I love the lights and shadows, the contrasts of the darks and lights, altogether with the flowing and graceful lines balanced by the straight lines of the window in the upper right
Lights and shadows are a big part of the BANANA SKY DVD on which I'm working, so perhaps I've been influenced by that also as I chose the photo for the day.
Self-Reflecting Queries
Two thoughts come up for me today. I've taken so many photographs of Lady Slippers in the past few years that I assumed I've shared several within the past 225 issues of Picture to Ponder. When I searched my files I found only two - one in the very beginning in Issue 16 and then another more than a year later, the one that's in the PICTURES TO PONDER: Inspired Journaling (see below)
I'm thinking that they had become so common for me I, mistakenly, took-it-for-granted that I had made them common for you too.
Are there places in your life that you are making assumptions that the people who are significant for you know all about specific things that are important to you? If so, I invite you to do a reality check, with them, to learn if you have been accurate.
Also, in a totally different conversation - When I was reflecting on the lights and shadows it occurred to me to pose the following question:
Are there places in your life where you are so focussed on the shadows that you are missing the
light that may be there? If so, I invite you to open it up by looking for that light. Perhaps it can be found in being Grateful.
Why not look for those areas within the situation where you can claim Gratitude and stand in those. Is it any lighter now?

I often find peace and healing when I open up a flower photo, larger than can be used in Picture to Ponder, and spend time
|
being with and studying it on my computer monitor.
You, too, can open up one of the beautiful flowers that are in PICTURES TO PONDER: Inspired Journaling almost fill your screen with it, and then "step into" the image.
The high resolution, set for printing, has the photographs capable of maintaining their quality at magnification as much as 300%. And, of course, the queries that went with the flowers are here also. For more information and to purchase, go to Downloadable Book.
