Today's Picture to Ponder Photo
Pink Bougainvillea
The flowers on this bush were pink when we purchased it, so it was surprising for me to find, a few months later, that most of the new flowers are red. When I first noticed this, I, of course, had to grab my camera to document the pink. See also Red Bougainvillea for a view of both.
The imagery in today's photo got my attention because of the face I see in an almost horizontal position on the right. The little green bud nestled in the leaves on the left also intrigues me.
Self-Reflecting Queries
In a way the picture above is giving off mixed messages. The flower appears very delicate, accentuated by its pastel color. On the other hand it becomes sharp when focussing on the "eyes" jabbing out. At times I see the face as querying and then I come back and it looks angry, or is it sad?
This then invites the following queries:
Can you recall times when you've made judgments about people based on the meanings you've given to their facial expressions? If so, did you then interact with them based on the interpretations you've made? Did you avoid them?
If this seems familiar to you, I invite you, next time this occurs, to actually check with the other person to learn what's so for him or her.
And, while I am "inviting" I'd love you to check out the PICTURES TO PONDER ebook. Every time I reduce the sizes of photos as I work on this twice-weekly ezine, I'm reminded of how rich the photos appear in the book. They are a larger size and a much better resolution. You have the opportunity to experience the richness for yourself, any time you wish, simply by purchasing the ebook and having it available in your computer. (Links are below)
The BOOK! - Pictures to Ponder: Inspired Journaling - Print Edition or downloadable eBook - your choice- now available!
"I bought your eBook earlier today and not only is it well written, the pictures you chose are lovely. The reason I waited so long to purchase was because I'm trying to curb my addiction to books and the clutter they are causing.
This morning I read the 10 page preview [link under photo on each of the description pages], and since you were offering it in a eBook format, I just had to indulge one more time. I know this will be a very successful for you. Congratulations!" Eva Macie, Artist
