Today's Picture to Ponder Photo
Pots, Pans and Utensils suspended from a kitchen ceiling
Last week I took several photographs of rooms and various views of the outside of a friend's home. In the process, I, of course, photographed things that "artistically" caught my eye, totally unrelated to my friend's project.
The photo above is one of those that keeps calling me back. I love the feeling of freedom and yet security that the objects exude as they hang safely above us. I also like the play of color and the rhythm and the contrast of the hooks with the pots.
Is this a set-up I would want in my own home? Definitely not! Too much work and, yet, I can truly appreciate them in the experience of the photograph.
Looking at it, I'm also reminded of the custom photo drawings I did a few years ago for a restaurant, using images from their kitchen for postcards. You might enjoy looking at these on tiles, especially if you could use some coasters or hot plates for your own kitchen. They also make great gifts. (Click on either tile to get to the Gift Shop)
Self-Reflecting Queries
Two things come up for me today as I reflect on today's photo and writing.
The first is to once again invite you to look around your surroundings and find something that you
visually take-for-granted, maybe never even notice anymore. Then observe what it is about it that caught your attention. You might want to take that and write about it or simply have fun. If it feels "musical" create a song, make some sounds, bang some pots, tap the floor.... What else might it have you do?
The second is has to do with sychronicities ("coincidences with an underlying pattern"). For instance, today's issue could be considered by some as winding up to be a "kitchen" issue to promote products in the Cafe Press Nature Art shop, AND that was far from the intention.
I planned the photo of the pans, and as I was removing the Calla Lily photo from Friday's issue, I was prompted to share the mug on which I had placed the picture for gifts my daughter-in-law wanted to purchase. I also decided to treat myself to one. That led to the memory of the tiles and the decision to share them for the fun of it. Then came the realization that I might actually be serving one or more of you who would also enjoy owning some of what I had created.
Thinking about that process, I thus invite you to start paying attention to the synchronicities that might be occurring in your life and to allow yourself to act on whatever "seems" to be wanting to happen. Put aside any internal chatter that might come up and move on to have fun with what "feels" good to you. It's a matter of "trust," as I am beginning to learn and practice.
Be sure to take pleasure in the openings.
