Today's Picture to Ponder Photos
Reflections and a Purple Gallinule, after a heavy rain shower, on the boardwalk at Wakodahatchee Wetlands
As we walked on the boardwalk, after a brief rain outburst on Sunday, I became intrigued with the railings and sky reflections in the puddles on the boardwalk. On the last lap of our walk, a purple gallinule standing on the boards caught my attention.
It was the first time I had ever experienced one who was not in the midst of plants. Not far from his food, this bird was evidently experimenting with a way, other than walking out on the fireflag stems, to get his meal.
Once again, I had difficulty deciding on which photo to feature today. I decided, thus, to simply give you your own choice of favorites. For me, it's the first two to which most draw me in. I love the overall feeling of boldness and serenity in the second photo and I chuckle at the blur of the white -the underside of the tail that was in motion.
I am including the other two photos mainly to visually fill in on the "story" of the relections in the boards and the activity of the gallinule.
Self-Reflecting Queries
After a rain or snow storm, do you allow yourself the time to savor the aftermath in terms of sights and smells, particularly in the reflections you might find in puddles or pools of water from melting snow or ice?
Given that there are many of you who may already be experiencing ice and snow, I am reminded of a visit we made into Manhattan, while we still lived in New Jersey. There were remnants of slush and melting snow on the sidewalk and in sections of it we experienced reflections of the buildings, as well as the heated steam coming up at a subway stop. I turned into a photo/drawing one of the photos I took then. See New York Reflections.
When the unexpected occurs in your life, such as Sunday's rain, do you complain, take it in stride, or go further and experience, see and gain from the adventure of it?
If you are not one who ordinarily pays attention to reflections in water of any kind on any surface, I invite you to take that on for the next few days. Notice what shows up for you.
