Today's Picture to Ponder Photos
Fireflag Flower opening, Fireflag Flower, and Purple Gallinule getting ready to feast on the fireflag flowers in Wakodahatchee Wetlands.
In acknowledgment of Thanksgiving I thought I'd use a photo of a purple gallinule walking out to the edge of a flower stem, feasting on the flowers. I wasn't satisfied with the photos I had and I happened to open some older files. The first photo shown above "Wow'ed" me with the stateliness of the flower, contrasted with the feeling of serenity given off by the blurred background.
My friend Arlin was here and she was "wow'ed" by the second photo, especially when she noticed the insect. Lastly, I have included the purple gallinule, for your pleasure, simply sitting amidst his favorite setting of plants.
May food be as bright and abundant for you in the upcoming days, as it is for the birds here in Wakodahatchee Wetlands.
Self-Reflecting Queries
I love the variety of imagery that I see in the various stages in the life of the fireflag plants, especially in many of the leaves when they are at their end. Part of the excitement for me, as I've undoubtedly said in other issues of Picture to Ponder, is watching the gallinules when they walk all the way out to the edges of these very fine, delicate-looking flower stems to get to the flowers, their food.
I am very grateful for the opportunities of having these experiences and to be living so close to Wakodahatchee Wetlands. I am especially thankful that I have you as an audience with whom I can share these "treasures", knowing that you also appreciate the discoveries.
I invite you to take some time to find, in addition to the "ordinary," some unusual things for which you are grateful. What is it that shows up for you when you stop to inquire? I invite you to share what comes up with at least one other person so that you experience the richness of being known.
Lastly I invite you to express your gratitude to the people close to
you, whether or not you are celebrating the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday. If there is someone for whom you might have ill feelings, I invite you to good beyond and find one thing in that relationship for which you can be grateful and I suggest you share it with that person.
Thank you all for being in my life.
