Today's Picture to Ponder Photos
two very different, beautiful photos wonderfully composed with a definite flow and movement of which I so often speak. The upper one is of Lilies over water and the lower, the inside of a Japanese Iris.
As you see, both of them are by Rufina James, my guest expert on tomorrow's "Power of Photography" teleclass call. Featuring her photos is a definite departure from our practice of using only the S and S Finkelsteins' as featured photos. And, I felt it important that we have a visual taste of Rufina's work before the call.
If you've had the opportunity to read the seperate email that preceded today's issue, you will have seen that among the topics that Rufina, author of "How to Master Your Digital Camera in Four Easy Steps," will be covering are:
* How to take powerful and meaningful photos
* How to capture the essence of your subject
* The three critical rules to developing your "inner eye"
* The secret (and never-before-discussed) techniques for unlocking
nature's beauty in your photographs
For more, see the CALL.
Self-Reflecting Queries
In describing the process of capturing the Lilies' image, Rufina shared that she was in a seminar where participants were all captivated with a video of a Hunch Back Whale and Baby. The next day, Rufina's attention was captured by the above lilies in a glass vase. She thus took them both, along with her camera, to various settings to photograph.
Rufina, along with all the other participants, were amazed at the result of the one above. Though far from the intention, it had the same feeling and look of the previous day's Whale and Baby footage!
Can you recall times in your own life when you were totally immersed in what was present and then stepped back and found, to your amazement, that the experience was a reflection of something you had recently appreciated? Simply a thought and a reminder of the power of fully being in the moment.
As for the second photo, Rufina wrote, "The story behind that one is that I had some Japanese Iris growing in the yard which had almost completed their bloom. The top petals had wilted. I wanted to see what was in the center, so I pealed the petals back and got this interesting shot - which I then turned into a postcard and sent to friends."
As I look at the
Iris' center, I'm attracted to the almost-luminescent glow in the petals radiating out from the center and the strength and boldness of each of, what I see as, the six components. Then the query follows:
When you start peeling away your layers, what strengths and radiance can you claim ready to burst forth from your center? I invite you to acknowledge it, own it and be in the power of what you find!
LASTLY, I invite you to be on the call with us tomorrow, Wednesday at 2:00PM Eastern time. See REGISTER.
