Today's Picture to Ponder Photo
side view of a rusty, old large, restaurant Barbecue Grill, or is it a giant insect from another planet? It definitely holds humor for me.
This photo taken was in front of the same restaurant where we photographed the roosters (Rooster in Yeehaw Junction) on our way home from Georgia. Obviously, as those of you who know me will realize, it was the face that caught my eye. I had an enlargement of that alone and decided that the full "insect" was more interesting.
Note: As I am writing the next section, I see only the bottom third of the photo on my monitor. It takes on a whole different feeling with a wonderful play of greys and shadows. Try it for yourself.
Self-Reflecting Queries
For today's self-reflecting queries, I'm going to use the contents of an email sent to me a while ago from Jeannie in England. We were having an e-mail-logue about going through changes, sparked by her repsonse to one of the issues of Picture to Ponder. Having recently read it, her words were with me as I took this photograph. She wrote:
"I draw pictures of things like spark plugs from cars, spanners, pieces of rusted metals, things I find in the street sometime... I remember once on having my old car serviced.The garage man Chris said the gear box needed replacing, and he showed me afterwards the old gear box.... 'What a mess' he exclaimed.... 'Its fantastic,' I replied. 'All the bits gouged out and scars and wounds,' I said, 'this is amazing. It's the history of my driving.....'
Chris just laughed and said, 'Well that's one way of looking at it,' and then commented, 'With the price of the new gear box, it might inspire me to drive more carefully, easy on the gears.......'
However, I took the gear wheel home with me and drew it.........loved it;
don't know where the picture is now, though.
One of my daughters once came home with an iron drain cover..... A really, really old chunk of metal, eaten away by time, she brought it into the house, weighted down by the volume of the thing and exclaimed, 'Isn t it beautifull mum..?'
I don't know about Blake with his 'see the world in a grain of sand'..... We see beauty in all things." Jean Thornton, England, theinnervisions.com
What memories do you have of old objects from your past? Are they with you in anyway now, either in behaviors you have or in tangible form? I also invite you to look around you in your travels in the next few days. Find something old and rusted out. Can you create a meaning for it, either "real" or fictional?
Regarding this, those of you who have not seen it, might appreciate "Corrosion or Transformation on my Picture Pondering Blog. Scroll down to the entry for May 26 when you get there or click on the link in the left side bar.
Enjoy your discovery path.
