TODAY'S PICTURE TO PONDER PHOTOS -
a mushroom "family" on a corner lawn in our neighborhood in Boynton Beach, Florida
It looks like it's "Mushroom Week." Tuesday brought the red mushrooms and while driving, at dusk, later that day, two saucer-shaped mushrooms caught my eye. I stopped the car, grabbed my camera, and took a few pictures, including ones with small, almost-buttony looking, mushrooms in the distance on the lawn.
The next day, to my delight, the little mushrooms had blossomed and stood straight, awaiting
my camera it seems. What attracted me, at first, were the varied patterns in the center of the mushrooms. Ultimately when it came to choosing which of the photos of the more than ten of these mushrooms to use, the one above won out.
Both Sam and I responded to the drama of the color contrast and I like the warm, close "family" feeling of the mushrooms. Each one is different and yet they are "bonded."
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
In the description above, I linked to the saucer-shaped mushrooms that were the original ones that caught my attention. At first I had it added right under today's photo and then decided that it took away from the main photo.
Almost always, I attempt to include EVERYthing in whatever I'm doing. Very often it's self-defeating, usually discovered only in retrospect.
I invite you to look into your own life. Is there a wide diversity of things on which you are working, including people with whom you are interacting, that has it ultimately be counter-productive? And, perhaps not? The invitation is to simply check to see what best serves you.
As you explore the above query, I also suggest that you look for those places where there is a bonding in the diversity, as in the mushroom portrait above. I, then, invite you to acknowledge each of the components, especially if it's people. Be sure to savor the results.
(Note - Given, we've been talking mushrooms I looked to see if I had any in naturesplayground.com photo/drawing art. I did find a single mushroom amidst broccoli, grapes and scallions imprinted on a tile in the gift shop. For fun, scroll down this page. Then follow the link.)
LATEST DISCOVERIES -
My passion for discovery, and sharing my discoveries, I believe are two of the elements that are factors in having PICTURE TO PONDER be the success that it is. Mostly it's my passion for discovery in Nature that you experience here. And, this past week, I discovered two business-related finds that I am excited to share.
For the WRITERS among you - On a teleclass, earlier this week, I was most impressed with all the information and resources that Jeff Herring, The Article Guy, had to offer. As a writer for Knight Ridder publications, with articles reaching 8 million people a week, Jeff gave an amazing comparative statistic of the percentage of his business that comes from the web. I highly recommend checking out his site, www.thearticleguy.com for free information, as well as for the programs he offers.
For the PHONE USERS among you, in the United State, Canada and US territories, who might have the need to make international calls, I'd recommend checking out Tel3's program . I am working with a coach now who lives in Canada, thus a search for the best phone rates. The rate with my phone company is 5 cents a minute, IF I were to add another $3.00 flat rate to my current plan. I was, thus, thrilled to find 1.9 cents a minute. I've used the service and it's great.
