TODAY'S PHOTO -
faces in a Wood Knot in a post along the boardwalk in Green Cay Wetlands
This one intrigued me, in part, because of the color contrasts. I love that there is an almost purple color in the wood. The faint cracks, or lines, around the "faces" also create a nice rhythm and accent.
When I first saw the image I saw one or two faces. As I looked more closely after downloading it onto my computer I counted at least 6 or 7. As Sam and I looked together, he also pointed out a "cat", the segment on the left that, to me looked like a shoulder and arm on the profile view of the largest face.
For those who want to explore this image more closely you can see a slightly larger picture by clicking on GREEN CAY WOOD KNOT FACES And if you love finding faces and have never been on the FACES PAGE on eteletours.com, click on that now. Be sure to also follow the STUMPS link on that page.
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
Today's photo demonstrates a few themes that seem to permeate the Self-Reflecting Queries in Picture to Ponder. These include:
1. finding the unexpected when we stop and look, then step back and look again;
2. discovering multiple aspects to
what appears to be the same thing; and
3. the opportunity for opening up discussion and discovering other people's points of view which may be surprsingly different from our own.
What comes up for you when I "speak" of Self-Reflecting query themes? Do you see patterns in your own life?
For fun, I invite you to share today's photo and/or those on the pages mentioned above with at least one other person. Are their interpretations the same as yours?
You might take it even further. Is there someone with whom you are having a challenge in communication? What if you took the above exercise and invited that person to "play" with you? If you choose to do this, please make certain you keep it light and playful.
A PS for today - Interestingly, as I wrote the last statement I'm reminded of someone who wrote to me recently commenting that she thought I was doing "photo therapy." My intention is to open everyone up to seeing things in new and, possibly, different ways, not from the therapeutic standpoint.
On the other hand I can see where my photos could be effective as such. If you agree and know any therapists who might appreciate becoming aware of Picture to Ponder as a tool please refer them to Picture to Ponder intro, or picturetoponder.com Thank you.
