TODAY'S PHOTO -
wooden gate at Wakodahatchee Wetlands that closes off a service vehicle roadway
As we were passing this gate, recently, it suddenly caught my eye. Always there, perhaps it was the dusk lighting on it that had it attract my attention this time. As is my practice now, whenever something visually stops me, I aim the camera and start photographing.
I think it was mainly the pattern of the nails that was the attention grabber. Of course, once looking at the photograph on my computer monitor I also found myself responding to the textures and patterns in the wood. And, then I noticed the intriguing number 4 that shows up on the left.
As I gazed at the photo, several queries started evolving.
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
I began to think of what some of us might term "closed gates" in our circumstances and our lives. Yet, looking at the image we see that there are openings, rich green with life, and there is a path leading someplace.
My thoughts continue on. I see I have some choices. If I absolutely need to have the fence opened, I could make a request of the appropriate people and ask for help in finding them if I did not know who they are. I could also move a little further forward or back on the path I had been taking and look around and beyond the gate to see what else is there. Naturally, I would have already bent down to look through the various openings in the gate.
Now, bringing this illustration into your life, are there places where you feel blocked, where you think the gates are closed? If so, have you looked at the situation from all angles? Are there people whom you might be enrolling to assist you in getting to that other side, or to find what you think might be there? If "yes" to any of the questions, what actions can you take now?
May your discoveries be empowering ones!
