Volume 2 - Number 63 |
I NEED YOUR HELP! Many thanks to those of you who have honored my request to respond to the survey I've designed to help me as I explore expanding the directions that I need to be taking for my business. Your answers that have been coming in are quite helpful AND hearing from a great many more of you would make a HUGE difference for me!!! I therefore, once again, request you to please a minute or two, perhaps 3, to complete this SURVEY.
Although I'd love to know who you are, you may be totally anonymous with your answers. Simple clicks are the only thing required to answer the questions. Your participation will be greatly appreciated. Please go to SURVEY |
IMPORTANT: If this photo inspires writing or anything else that has you share it and the photo, please be certain to credit the source, including the URL of this issue,

TODAY'S PHOTO -
a knot in one of the planks of wood on the boardwalk at Wakodahatchee Wetlands with a bit of a spiral leafed plant from the American Orchid Society gardens cloned in
Just as something in this image caught my eye when walking last week, it also grabbed my attention when I was looking through photos for today's issue. Once on the computer monitor I immediately saw, not surprisingly, a face with one eye that's wide-open; the other covered by a large patch. The nose is somewhat of a pig's nose, albeit a tiny one. Especially interesting, to me, is seeing a bent hand (3 fingers visible) upon which the image is resting. The profile of a much tinier darker face lurks to the left.
And the green spiral? As I was traveling today, I found myself frequently reflecting mentally on this photo, thinking it needed some color if it was going to be "on stage." I visualized finding a small green leaf, in my photo collection, and transporting it here. When I opened my files the spiral plant was the first thing I saw, so I decided to simply "cut" a piece of it and bring it into the photo. It is actually totally unrelated by virtue of Nature and habitat
and somehow it seemed to fit visually. So.....
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
Today's image brings up 2 different conversations for me. Firstly, I know many of you are very spiritually grounded. You are tuned into what happens around you and to your intuition. For me thinking and acting intuitively is relatively new, at least on a conscious level. Writing for you in Picture to Ponder and sharing my photos has certainly moved me forward AND I thank you for your support in that.
Today is an example of simply honoring myself and what showed up and trusting it will make a difference for some, knowing that not all photos in Picture to Ponder need to be "beautiful."
Are there places in your life where you are aware of responding, or not, to an undefined something? If you are not doing it, I invite you to start paying attention to things, or sounds, that catch your eye or ear. Test it to see what might become available for you out of doing this.
Secondly, the face itself as I saw it was actually disturbing. One view of it was sinister, as if the character were hiding something and simply waiting to pounce. On the other hand it could be afraid and attempting to hide that fear. There are undoubtedly numerous interpretations that one can bring forth here, including, "What face?"
Are there places in your life where you turn away from things that disturb you? If so, I invite you, the next time that happens, to relook at what you are seeing. What other interpretations can you bring to it? Can you bring play and aliveness to the situation?
Oh yes. There is also the element of my having added something to the picture that was not there and did not belong. I'll leave the querying on that up to you to create.
As always, have fun.
NEW IN THE PICTURE TO PONDER GIFT SHOP -
|
I received an e-mail from someone acknowledging appreciation for having found the castera roses featured in Picture to Ponder last year -Issues 182 and 183 after doing a web search for them. When I went to revisit what's available in the Gift shop I saw only my photo/drawing versions.
I therefore put the original photo on a couple of the products, thinking it would look particularly great on a round magnet. See DUSTY ROSE.

Please note, if your favorite image(s) is not in the gift shop, write to us and we will put it/them up.

In recent issues I've mention Rebecca Collins, an extremely creative friend and associate of mine, and referred you to her gift shop Art Paw Gift Shop.
