TODAY'S PHOTO -
light yellow cattleya orchid from the American Orchid Society Greenhouse.
The image on the left, as you view your monitor, is how the photo appeared when I downloaded it from the camera. The one on the right reflects one click on "Smart Fix" in Photoshop Elements 3 with no other alterations. I wanted to enliven the photo and thus took that action. I was amazed with the change and the overall new colorcast to the photo.

Why this flower today?
A recent purchaser of products imprinted with white alstromeria in our Gift Shop, requested more orchids. In searching my photo files this one popped out and so I decided to feature it today. In addition to the feeling of the flower itself and the shifts when digitally altering it, I found it interesting to note the pinkish edge in the first, turned purple in the second.
Currently in our THROUGH THE LENS telecourse we are each choosing a color
on which to focus with our picture-taking this week. A magenta pink caught my eye yesterday and so I went with looking for variations of pink.
During the last class I discovered FlickR.com for posting photos and have been very happy with its use. If you are interested in seeing the pinks I've found thus far, go to

SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
In the process of paying attention to colors and focussing on variations of one, I have been surprised by some of the things I've noticed that I had never seen before. This includes my finding the pink head of a sprinkler system and looking at my towels in a different way.
Given I love making discoveries, the biggest challenge I have right now is that I am totally puzzled by the "pink" blinds I see looking into our house from the outside. I say "puzzled" because they are white, as are my neighbors whose blinds are showing white from the outside. I am still trying to source the pink that they may be reflecting.
I now invite you to choose something to focus on and look at it from different perspectives. If taking this on, are you seeing things you've missed? Does the object or person transform as you change your view? Using the Photoshop Tool mentioned above as an analogy, is there one little "adjustment" in your thinking, or speaking, a trigger perhaps, that will "color" whole thing differently?
Happy and joyful discoveries. Have fun!

COURSES LED BY FRIENDS-
My dear friend and mentor, Julie Jordan Scott is kicking off a brand new program called SOUL IDENTITY. If the title of the course resonates with you, brings any kind of reaction, do click on SOUL IDENTITY to check Julie's description out for yourself.
I have registered for the 3 month program myself and look forward to getting a much richer and focussed understanding of what calls me and where I'm going with that. It would be great experiencing this with some of you. "Community" is a big part of the programs Julie develops and facilitates.
