TODAY'S PHOTO -
sunset reflected under the boardwalk in Wakodahatchee Wetlands.
The last issue featured a sunset in Green Cay, with the attention on the clouds and the pinks of the sky. Today, when searching for the photo to feature, I was drawn to this particular, one taken a week or two ago.
I love the heavy horizontal, ripple lines, contrasted with the strong verticals of the posts and the thinner ones of their reflections. Then, almost as if looking through a window, there is the surprising peacefulness of the soft pink of the reflected sunset.
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
For some reason, it seems that my writing on today's scene is more descriptive than usual. I have the feeling that some of you might wonder why I'm describing the obvious.
I rarely know what I am going to write until I start. I spend some time looking at, and being with, the photo and then begin keyboarding. I'm thinking that perhaps the message here is that some of you may not be seeing the photo as I described it. Perhaps it's a totally different scene for some of you.
If the latter is the case, then the question becomes how often do we assume that people are seeing exactly what we are seeing? Do we always communicate with the underlying assumption being that we are all on the "same page?"
This inquiry encompasses situations that include more than the visual "seeing" of scenes. I was faced with something today where I discovered that some activities I suggested were interpreted in a way I never thought about.
The lesson I personally learned was that I had been operating out of my assumptions that people knew what I wanted. What had been missing was my communicating and clarifying, up front, my intentions and expectations, before moving on to the tasks.
Can you relate to any of what I'm saying?
Now, to a totally different conversation - Given we started this issue off with "reflections," I invite you to look at the many different kinds of reflections in your own worlds - those you might see, or now, become aware of, including "reflections" in thoughts and conversations.
COURSES LED BY FRIENDS-
My dear friend and mentor, Julie Jordan Scott is kicking off a brand new program called SOUL IDENTITY. If the title of the course resonates with you, brings any kind of reaction, do click on SOUL IDENTITY to check Julie's description out for yourself.
I have registered for the 3 month program myself and look forward to getting a much richer and focussed understanding of what calls me and where I'm going with that. It would be great experiencing this with some of you. "Community" is a big part of the programs Julie develops and facilitates.
