TODAY'S PHOTO -
Dale Chihuly glass vase with a glass leaf and flower in Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden. Click on ENLARGEMENT for a close-up view of the sculpture.
This is one of the numerous glass sculptures that were integrated throughout the gardens in the show that Sam and I visited a few weeks ago. Note how the colors in the vase pick up and repeat the textures in the wall and the tree. The whole exhibit was designed specifically for the Fairchild Gardens.
I particularly like this photo because of the overall feeling I derive from it. To me, the scene is both cool and warm at the same time.
Everytime I go through my photos, I am in awe of Chihuly's accomplishments and how he so captured nature in glass. You can see 20 of the Fairchild pieces, as well as other installations, on Chihuly's site - http://www.chihuly.com/installations/fairchild/index.html . When on that page click on Exhibition Overview on the left and then click through the photos.
Those people participating in the Photo/Creativity classes will have access to exploring between 50 and 100 of the photos that I took during Sam's and my visit to Fairchild.
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
Have you made any discoveries lately, found things in unexpected places? If so, what was the feeling you got when that happened?
If not, and even if you have, I invite you to spend some time looking around you, where you work and live, where you walk, at what you're wearing. Pay more attention, or a different kind, than you usually do.
What is it that's attracting you? How, if at all, can you use that information? Perhaps it will simply be in noting, and/or reminding yourself, what gives you pleasure, something you can call upon when you forget it.
As always, have fun.
PHOTO/CREATIVITY TELECLASSES - starting next week, April 25 and April 26
where a limited number of participants will be meeting by telephone, on a conference line, to discuss and share photographs and new ways of viewing their worlds. This is not a technical course and, although it will help, a camera is not required to benefit from the sessions. See TELECLASSES.
Note: Special Bonuses -
1. Access, on a password protected site, to seeing 50 to 100 of my photos from the Chihuly Glass Exhibit. For full program details, see TELECLASSES.
2. Access to an additional album, also password protected, with the 250 photos that have been in Picture to Ponder since its inception.
