TODAY'S PHOTO -
Fireflag leaves, surrounded by duckweed, in Wakodahatchee Wetlands
As we were walking late in the afternoon, the pink "lips" on the inside edges of these two leaves caught my eye. They appear to be waiting to kiss. I was intrigued.
Then as soon as I saw the photo on the screen of my computer I got an immediate "lift" from the feeling of aliveness and, at the same time, peacefulness. I think this is partially due to the tilt of the leaf on the right and the highlighting of the late afternoon sun on segments of the leaves and the sections behind them.
"Kissing Leaves" brings with it the our wishes for a light-filled, bright, playful and loving weekend.
Note - For those new subscribers who may be wondering, all the green in the water is duckweed, tiny little plants which discourage the growth of algae, provide
food for wildlife and clean the water by absorbing
nitrogen and phosphorous.
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
Today's queries on perfectionism are sourced from finally announcing a teleclass schedule, rather than from our featured photo.
Regarding my comments on not being personally excited with the owl photo in the last issue, one reader wrote to tell me how she gets stopped from sharing because she may not have the "perfect" picture. Given I often invest a lot of time attempting to create the "perfect" picture, in both the taking of it and the "developing" of it in my "digital darkroom," I can certainly relate to her statement.
My need to be "perfect" shows up in countless ways, including not moving forward with the teleclasses to which I refer on the eteletours.com home page. Many of you have asked me about them and, although I have the curriculum in place from the several classes I've led, I've been stalling on the putting together of the "perfect" marketing package, the "most-fitting" testimonials, the "right" time(s) and much more.
FINALLY, because I committed to some people in my mastermind group that I would simply get in action, I am announcing the program here today (see next section). As I write, the web page is still in the working stages, obviously not perfect, AND I have commitment to get today's issue out, so I am in ACTION knowing it will all fall into place.
Is there something you've been waiting to do until you can get it done "perfectly?" What have the costs to that been for you?
Among the costs to my delaying was the possibility of a teen-ager getting a unique and special birthday gift, a subscriber query which I was unable to fulfill. There have also been the emotional and financial drains that go along with procrastination.
Back to you. Is there NOW something to which you would like to commit? If "yes," and it would empower you, you could even do it publicly on the blog.
Have that wonderful weekend we wished you above.

STAMP OUT PARKINSON'S DISEASE-
Because Sam has been afflicted with this disease, April's Parkinson's Disease Awareness Month has special meaning to us. Special thanks to those of you who have so thoughtfully and generously made donations.
NEW IN THE GIFT SHOP-
When subscriber Meg Austin wrote last week to suggest I send "Singing Tulips" to the Postal Service to see about their being used as a stamp for Parkinson's Awareness Month, I decided to have fun, test out Cafe Press' service of personalizing postage. Several other companies also now offer this service. See TULIP STAMP and other tulip images. |
