TODAY'S PHOTO -
spatterdock flower, reflection, and leaves gilded bronze by the late afternoon sunlight.
Invariably when I walk in Wakodahatchee Wetlands there is something in the spatterdock plant which catches my eye. It may be the flower itself, which has the feeling of being a water lily. It may be a root. In the case of the above photo it was the sole flower, better seen for the flower in ISSUE 109. See ISSUES 78 and 79 for root photos.
After downloading the photos, what really grabbed my senses here was the golden-bronze color of a portion of the leaf and the puddle of water resting in it. I also love the shape of the puddle.
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
Today I am going back and forth between two different sets of photos to present and it is getting far past the time I aim for Picture to Ponder to be in the mail.
As I waiver, I'm reminded of a segment of a piece I wrote earlier today in the Sacred Sixty Writing circle teleclass in which I participate, facilitated by Julie Jordan Scott. The writing focus for the session was "being in the moment."
In response to a prompt, I wrote:
"I am called to pull forth the beauty that I've seen and captured - that which, in the moment, inspires me. I am called upon, in this moment, to trust that that is what's right for me and the people whom I will touch. It's not about perfection, getting it exactly right. It's about what catches my core - in the moment."
I find it very interesting what pours out of my subsconscious and onto my paper when I am "in the moment" with free flow writing. Today's is a message to myself, one which I will print out and use as a constant reminder to let go of "perfectionism" and be in the moment.
Have you been going back and forth about anything in your life recently? At work? In relationships?
If so, I invite you to look at being "in the moment"
of where you are right now; what you are seeing; what you are feeling. You might deepen and/or clarify the experience and expedite decisions by spending a minute or two of free-flow writing, simply letting the words come.
Thank you, Julie.
By the way, Julie has several inspiring programs happening right now. See her 5Passions site.
READER'S RESPONSE -
Speaking of responding to prompts, less than one hour after Friday's PICTURE TO PONDER Vol. 2-Issue 25, with the small parrot, went out, I received an e-mail from subscriber Sharon Lippincott, who was prompted to write a Pet Story. See ImPROMPTu STORY on her blog.
Writers also take note, when on Sharon's blog, of the link down the left side to a Yahoo group she's formed for writers and their life stories.
