TODAY'S PHOTOS -
3 unripe coconuts, fallen to the ground, and another with a strong face
Passing these coconuts on the ground earlier this week I was drawn to the imagery I saw. Sam likes the top photo particularly for the arrangement and they way they fill the space.
The position they are in is exactly how we found them. For those wondering, it looks like a soda can tab stuck in the one on the right, totally incongruous with the picture and I have no idea how it would have gotten there.
I am attracted to the center coconut in that photo. The flower-like shape from which the seed opens has always fascinated me. I used its imagery in several of the paintings I did in the fantasy landscape/seascape water color series I developed to satisfy my Master's Degree in Creative Arts Education. You can see one of them on my naturesplayground.com site. When you're there click on NTI-004 for the enlargement.
Now for the lower photo. I find both intriguing and upsetting the strong face that I see. I almost did not include it because it looks so gross to me. On the other hand this ezine is about pondering and being open to differences. Your response may be quite different from mine and I do believe that there is a lot available in this particular photo that you can use as writing prompts or for sources for conversation.
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
After I finished writing about the "grossness" I spent some time looking at the face to, perhaps, describe it for those who might not see what I see. In the process of looking my focus shifted to seeing a different face. The "gross" part became something totally different. It was even difficult to find the exact first image that I saw until I stepped away from it.
Is there any thing, or person, in your life right now that you find distasteful? If so, can your shift your vision so that a whole new perspective comes up?
And, on the lighter side, what can you have fun with in either of the above photos that you can share with, play with, someone else? You might discover that your views or totally different.
As always, have fun with it and enjoy your weekend.
