TODAY'S PHOTO -
the center of an orchid from the AOS Gardens.
Today's featured image intrigued me when I first noticed it a couple of months ago in the larger photo on the right. (Click on it to see the full flowers enlarged.) I cropped out the center and even printed it.
What I see in it still fascinates me, so I chose to share it with you today. |
|
I see a girl's or young woman's face with two dark eyes visible above her nose. The rest of her head is covered with a snug hat and her mouth is masked by a scarf. The eyes are either haunted, calling for help or simply inquiring. A high collar and full furry sleeves protect against the cold.
And then the "human" elements stop, for she has the claws/talons of a beast and wears a pendant of the same. Hmmmm. As I write, it occurs to me, weeks after I first saw this, that she could simply be wearing colored gloves and the image in the center is the zipper pull on her jacket.
What do you see?
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
Today's description is certainly an example of the "stories" we can make up about the people and things we see. So often we interact with them as real.
Is there anyone, or anything, in your life right now whom you fear? If so, I invite you to look at the situation more closely to see what else might be there. Writing about it, or talking with someone, may open up something totally different, just as I started seeing the almost-scary talons as protecting gloves while I objectively observed and wrote here.
On a lighter side, I invite you to be open to looking for new things in unexpected places this weekend. Perhaps there's even someone new who will show up in your life!
As always, have/create fun.

SHARING READER COMMENTS -
Thank those of you who are responding to my invitation to post your responses to the past few issues on the Picture to Ponder Blog. I am delighted.
Several of the past few issues have new comments on them. Please check them out. It's merely a quick scroll down each of the issues, a click on COMMENTS and then your browser BACK button for some very insightful comments.
Insofar as posting comments, those of you with web sites can have the added option of the exposure of your name being linked to your URLs. I chose Typepad as the location for the blog - www.sheilafinkelstein.typepad.com/picture_to_ponder - because it is so easy to post comments.
When you go to the BLOG,
you'll see the current issue and photo and a link at the end for Posting Comments. To see the photo
ENLARGED at the same size you see it here, simply click
on it.
Lastly, if posting on a blog is not your style, please continue to send your comments directly to me . Learning what you are experiencing means a lot. It is part of the reward of Picture to Ponder for me.
