TODAY'S PHOTO -
Sunset and other inside and outside reflections.
I was lying on my sofa late yesterday afternoon, taking a break, talking on the phone with a friend. As I glanced out our glass doors I noticed the sunset reflected through those in our kitchen. After observing for a few minutes I went for my camera and and back to the sofa. I lay down again to shoot photos as my friend and I continued talking.
Ultimately what you are seeing is a melange of components, including my lit office way behind me and to my right.
In the foreground is a plant and the flowers that were on the table in front of the door. Inside and outside, reflections and the direct images all combine to create this piece.
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
Compositionally this photo did not work as well as some of the others I took because the wood from the door was right in the center. I started playing again with Photoshop Elements with this and some other things I wanted to change or remove.
What was meant to be getting out a quick issue of Picture to Ponder to you with weekend wishes started becoming a huge project.
I then remembered "the point" to my sharing this photo. It was to remind us of the variety of things that are available for our eyes and beings to feast upon when we are open.
For me, grabbing the camera enriched my experience. What is it that enlivens you?
I invite you to spend some time this weekend looking around for things that you might not have noticed before, as well as looking for those which are familiar that you love. I also invite you, as you look, to make note of what in particular lights you up about what you are seeing.
How do you enhance the experience for you?
Also, if you're finding you are wandering in a conversation, as I was belaboring altering the photo, ask yourself, "This point is...?" It's a very simple way to get back on track.
Have a great weekend.
