TODAY'S PHOTO -
After the serene and restful photos of the last few issues, I thought I'd have fun bringing this totally different view into the Picture to Ponder mix.
Yes, this is a photograph from Nature. A leaf from a Blood Banana Tree at the American Orchid Society Gardens in Delray Beach, Florida. The "question mark" is another leaf about to unfold.
In playing with Photoshop Elements 3.0 tools in a wonderful course I'm taking with Sara Froelich at Eclectic Academy, this unusual leaf took on an added brilliance. It's actually not all that different from the unaltered photo.
If you are still shaking your head and wondering, you can see the whole tree and a couple of other close-up views by clicking on Blood Banana Reborn.
This particular banana tree has a special meaning for me. I've been observing it periodically for the past two and a half years. I was especially thrilled when a photo/drawing I did of a pod from the tree won the Mixed Media 1st place award in a WITVA (Women in the Visual Arts) juried show two year ago at the AOS center. See BANANA POD. You can see additional banana tree art on our www.naturesplayground.com home page.
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of visiting these AOS Gardens with Mia Margaret, a subscriber and photographer/harpist from Sedona, AZ. See ANGELICA. I was quite honored when, while visiting family, she called and asked if we could meet. Since I had planned a quick visit to the Gardens, I suggested meeting there.
It was great experiencing some of my favorite plants with someone else's eyes also. As a matter of fact, Mia was the one who first noticed the unfolding leaf, after I started photographing the plant.
Have you reached out to meeting anyone new recently? If so, what became available for you? For the other person? I've been having wonderful experiences connecting with many of the new subscribers here.
When is the last time you remember the pleasure of sharing some of your favorite experiences with another person or persons? Were your perspectives different from one another's?
I invite you to take on
visiting, or revisiting, with at least one other person, some of your favorite places and compare what might be your surprisingly different perspectives. Although I usually emphasize the visual, this can extend to a favorite piece of writing or any of a myriad of other possibilities.
What other creative choices come to your mind?
