TODAY'S PHOTO -
Caladium, I think - another plant in the American Orchid Society Greenhouse in Delray Beach, Florida.
I find a peacefulness in this particular picture. Perhaps it's the tilt of the leaves and the way they are gracing the space, or maybe it's the purples that are drawing me in. There is somewhat of a stateliness demanding my attention.
And then there are the little miniature flowers. Is there something they are trying to tell us?
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
I said, "I think", when it came to identifying the images in today's photo. I did not look for labels and then was caught up in needing to have the "right answer" when I decided to use it for a feature photo.
"Does the identity really matter?"
I ask. Then I remind myself that my intention is to share photos that may inspire, delight, or challenge you simply by being what they are and by your bringing yourself to the experiencing of them.
It has me now querying, "How often do I let 'labels' get in the way of my experiences?" There are times, I'm recalling, that I actually allow the labels to determine what I am going to experience.
How many times do I check a movie review before I go to see the movie? Do I then allow the critic to become the one who is determining how I see it? Do I ask someone else how a new food tastes before I try it for myself?
All interesting queries that I invite you to try on for yourself. Continue on with the question, "Can I identify times that I truly experience something for what it is without relying on others' words and interpretations?"
For me, it's definitely when my camera and I go for a walk. I started qualifying the latter statement with "in Nature" and then realized it's anywhere that I can focus my camera.
