TODAY'S
PHOTO -
a large mushroom, or other fungi, on a dead tree limb
My first thought was that this is some form of mushroom. It caught my eye as we were walking on a metal "boardwalk" in a newly discovered, for us, location - Boynton Beach Mangrove Park.
Althought this photo differs from our usual bright and specific images, I include it here for the writers among you and those who like to play with your imagination. For me, this scene calls up fairy tale images of Snow White, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and other mystical woods stories. I think the flowers add to the "homey" feeling.
I purposefully used a photo with the grasses somewhat protecting the "fort" and yet they're sparse enough to all entry. I can almost see little elves dancing on the edges of the fungi.
What do you see?
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
My thoughts move from the "story" of the above to thinking about "beauty". How do YOU define "beauty?" Is it in the colors? the shapes? the crispness and clarity of something?
I was working with a photo, from the same late afternoon, of a yellow-crowned night heron (click to see it) and decided that the muddy environment was too gloomy for a Picture to Ponder featured photo. This leads me to thinking how important it is for me to "look good" and to present you mainly with "good-looking" objects and scenes.
From there came thoughts of the unspoken "rules" I've evidently set for myself. Funny, as I reflect this morning. Are you aware of the "rules" you've created that run you and your activities? Are they empowering ones?
To wrap up here, it seems that the 2 main queries for the day are (1) to be thinking of your experiences of beauty and (2) tuning into your "rules" and the impact they have on you.
COURSE AND TELECLASSES-
My friend, Julie Jordan Scott, is offering her own holiday promo. Register for one course and get a second one FREE for yourself or a friend. See 5Passions. You could even take a course with a friend and share the fee, with one of you paying for it of course.
Those of you who have been subscribing for some time know how highly I regard whatever Julie offers. I attribute a lot of where I am today to working with Julie, including PICTURE TO PONDER! PTP was started in her ezines course and Julie was the one who suggested the title, which fit so well I thought. Again check out 5Passions.
