TODAY'S
PHOTO -
grasses and a colored weed on Laurence Harbor beach in New Jersey
As I was searching, and searching again, in my computer for the original, full-size photos published in Picture to Ponder to use in our new 2006 calendars, the above grasses photo kept cropping up.
I got a quick, pick-me-up and was transported back in time to a geographic area where there are Seasons (other than hurricane) with marked changes. To me where we are in Florida feels pretty much like one season.
I think Fall is past (what the above scene seems to represent). Well I know by looking at the calendar that it is over. People I know are talking and writing about snow and ice. I hear it almost like I am an alien from a different planet.
Do you ever have similar feelings, like you are in a foreign land. If so, what evokes this for you?
CALENDARS -
The Floral Wall Calendar is complete! See Calendars The flowers were selected from those published the past year in PICTURE TO PONDER. A Sunrise/Sunset Calendar is still being worked on.
Special thanks to Morgine Jurdan, Communications with Love, who helped me with the photo elimination/selections. She also found the lead quote by Friedrich Nietzsche. "The essence of all beautiful art, all great art, is gratitude."
Speaking of "Gratitude," if you haven't been there yet I recommend you check out Stacey Robyn's Free Gratitude Experiment. See MASTER KEY. (back to top) If you do not have FLASH on your computer simply go to GO GRATITUDE.
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
I have spent many, many hours during the past several days searching my computer for the original, full-size photos used in these issues of PICTURE TO PONDER. What I kept being confronted with was the HUGE COST of not having spent a few extra minutes each issue to label the photos and save them in one place.
Those of you who use digital cameras know that each photo is given a number. Unless one changes each to a name, they remain unidentifiable until they are opened. Yes, I have them organized in labeled folders and I have so many folders, in folders, it still became a monumental task.
I recount this story, simply because I'm sure many of you find yourself in similar circumstances where, in hindsight, if you had taken a few minor extra steps at the original time of doing something you would have saved a far greater amount of time in the future.
I invite you to pause for a few minutes, sometime within the next day or two, to look at the things you are doing regularly. Are there steps you might be putting in place now that may save you that time in the future?
You might even look at something as "mundane" as how you handle mail.
And, bottom line to all this - If you routinely do things that cost you in the long run, do NOT burden yourself with the added messages that come with beating yourself up. Accept it as having happened, look with ease at alternatives that are available in the future and move on. There is a lot of freedom in that and you deserve it.
