TODAY'S PHOTO
-
Photo/drawing of another of the Castera
Roses as shown in Issue
182
As I mentioned in yesterday's issue, I was quite excited with
these roses and immediately had the inclination to take a few
of the photos and enhance them in my Nature's Playground photo/drawing
style. The original photo, used for the photo/drawing above,
was in competition for being yesterday's featured photo.
Sam and I both liked the accenting of the main rose with the curve
the greenery from each flower is creating as a whole. See CasteraRose6.
Unfortunately, without thinking long-range I cropped the image
for a tile before enhancing the lines, rather than after, so the
effect is different.
If you compare the original photo with the one featured today,
you may also note the color differences. This alteration happened
in the different stages of printing and scanning and I did not
attempt to digitally "correct" it. I especially like
the boldness of the rose, as we see it here today, its brightness
and the play of the lines in the picture.
I am also looking forward to purchasing a grouping of the Castera
roses photo/drawing tiles later this weekend. They are now available
in our Picture to Ponder GIFT
SHOP as coaster tiles, which can also be used as accent tiles
in walls, or as hot plates. The images are also in framed tiles,
as well as in tile boxes and on pillows.
ROSES COLOR RESPONSE -
In resonse to yesterday's issue, Maria, from Scotland, wrote
to me sharing her experience of changing colors in a particular
rose in her garden. Another DISCOVERY! It reminded me of Autumn
leaves turning color and definitely explained what I'm seeing
in these roses. Check out what Maria had to say on PTP
RESPONSE 182Rose.
As I set up the roses response page, I also created a listing
and links to additional random reader response pages which have
poetry and other creative writing. See PTP
Response Listing.
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
Above I noted that, in my excitement, I cropped the photo into
a square before doing my drawing enhancement. Belatedly I realized
that I will need to do another if I want a horizontal picture
and yet a totally different mood.
I'm reminded of how often I "jump the gun," hastily
racing to the finish line before assessing the route and the possible
consequences. If I were in an actual race and I started out before
the "gun" went off, would I be disqualified or given
a time penalty?
In a way, I can consider this experience a time penalty. On
the other hand, I can view the opportunity for a new drawing
as a possibility for further delight and exploration.
Take some time this weekend to observe your style. Do you jump
in without planning ahead? of Do you thoroughly plan out your
actions?
Do you beat yourself up later for your style and any of your
actions or do you congratulate and acknowledge yourself for
honoring your style? Today, I choose to be grateful for the
luxury I have in allowing myself this exploration.
Create a beautiful weekend and, as always, have fun!
