TODAY'S PHOTO
-
a composite of yellow hibiscuses photographed at different
times of day, from different points of view.
During a portion of session 4 of the four session Photo/Creativity
teleclass just completed, participant Stacey Robyn led a very
interesting and informative component on Lighting in Photography.
My focus when I photograph is mainly on "Seeing" without
much attention to technical details, including lighting, so
I was quite intrigued with what Stacey had to share.
The next day, remembering the call, one of our hibiscus flowers
caught my eye as the sun shone brightly on it. I thought, "great
time to check out shadows, take some photos directly and others
with the sunlight blocked!" After a heavy rain and at dusk,
I remembered I wanted to photograph more, with no shadows, and
thus #4 above full of rain drops.
The next morning, shortly past sunrise with bright light, though
not as strong, I remembered, again, that I wanted to check it
out. The one flower I had been photographing was now closed.
It may be #6 and there was another hibiscus in a similar stage
of development as the one from the previous day. As
you can see there are shadows here from early morning light,
but much softer.
For me, I prefer the ones with light on them, the contrast of
the shadows and the brightness. I actually prefer the early
in the day, softer lit ones. And you?
Thank you Stacey for your contribution to us all. Readers, you
can see some of Stacey's photos and writings on Stacey's
Ambassador of Light blog.
And, for any of you who might have been intrigued when I wrote
a few times about the just completed course, another one or
two will be launched later this month. A teleclass is one wherein
facilitator and participants interact on a conference call phone
line. Please
me if you want more information in advance of public announcement.
I'd especially like to know if you have a preferred time of
day or night for such calls.
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
Just as I became intrigued and started looking at the hibiscus
at different times and from different points of view, what can
you be observing in your life from many different aspects and
at different times? Pay attention to lights and shadows, literal
and figurative.
This can be situations as well as objects. Does time of day
make a difference? Can you pinpoint what might change a mood?
Take the time to observe and note whatever variables you become
attuned to. As always, have fun
with this.
AUDIO TESTIMONIALS -
Have you yet checked out the 28
second message from Sondra, who
shares the impact on her life of a custom photo/drawing of her
father done by me?
Have you listened to Judith Tramayne-Barth and Renee Kleckner
on our AUDIO
LINKS page, where Judith also describes how easy it is to
record a message? I'd love to have your voice there also. A
sentence or two is more than enough, if you are person of a
few words.
