TODAY'S PHOTO -
2 clay "Beach Lady" sculptures on a glass table
with a reflected vase.
Yesterday, perhaps influenced by the lighting and reflection queries
in Picture to Ponder Issue 144, I got caught up, in passing, with
the light filtering through the petals of a purple
alstromeria. I took several photos and then went on to take
pictures of the sculptures on the table.
The background, of the patio through the glass door behind it,
made the photo too confusing to present it as today's feature.
On the other hand I was intrigued by the lighting on the tiny
sculptures and the reflections in the glass.
Remembering Renee Kleckner's comment in our audio interview (see
AUDIO
LINKS) on how she loved being surprised whenever she opens
Picture to Ponder, I decided today's photo would be an interesting
attention-grabber given it's so different.
So, I playfully present this to you with the wish that you, too,
have fun this weekend.
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
I created these two little clay sculptures almost 30 years ago
when I was sitting on the beach as my two sons were playing in
the ocean. I had a bad cold and was feeling terrible. To pass
the time, I went to the car and grabbed some clay that was in
the trunk for a sculpture course I was taking, and started doing
some "gesture drawings" in clay of some women reclining
on the beach.
Amazingly, once I got going I felt totally revitalized with no
after effects of the cold. Now I often experience similar feelings
after a walk where my camera and I have gotten involved with unusual
things that catch my eye.
The trick for me is to remember the actions I can take to revitalize
myself when I am in a "low" state. Do you know what
those things are for you?
Pay attention this weekend to what
you are doing when you are feeling great. Capture those memories
so you can recall and take similar actions when you want to be
experiencing those feelings again.
