Today's Self-Reflecting Queries

TODAY'S
PHOTO -
sunrise, and it's reflection, at Wakodahatchee Wetlands.
One morning I woke up early enough to look out the window and
see a spectacular sunrise was likely. Checking the official sunrise
time, on the weather page, I saw I had enough time to throw on
some clothes and drive over to Wakodahatchee.
There is something added for me in being with a sunrise, or sunset,
over water. When I got home and downloaded the photos I fell in
love with several of them. Today's featured photo became a choice
between the one above and WAKO
SUNRISE #2. You'll see, if you click on it, that the latter
sunrise photo has more drama and things going on it, which is
why Sam prefers that one.
For me there is a brightness and aliveness in the one above. It
lifts my spirits and brings me joy. There is also a sense of peacefulness,
probably in part brought forth by the strong horizontal line of
the trees, per our conversation many issues ago.
May your weekend ahead be alive with joy and awakenings.
SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES - also on Audio
In the photo above the colors in the reflections are almost stronger
than the colors in the sky. I invite you to look at your reflection
in the mirror this weekend, perhaps in water, and discover newly
your strengths.
You can also play with this. I paused in my writing to check a
mirror and started moving my hands around and back and forth in
front of it. The palms and underside of my fingers had a whole
different feeling from that which I get when I simply look down
on them.
As I started writing about reflections I also began to think of
the times I've seen myself reflected in others, particularly my
sons on various occasions. In the past, the traits I chose to
dwell on, and sometimes get crazed about, were those that I considered
negative. These were far easier to notice in another.
If this resonates with experiences you have, I suggest that the
next time you see parts of you reflected in someone else, you
take the time to also see the strengths and traits that you admire
in both that person and yourself. Then acknowledge that to yourself
and the other person.
Acknowledgement enlightens and empowers. Treat yourself to it,
as well as those with whom you are interacting. (back
