TODAY'S PHOTO -
black-bellied whistling duck in Green Cay Wetlands.
Yes, it's real! Last year it always seemed to be an event when
the black-bellied whistling ducks were seen at Wakodahatchee
Wetlands. A few months ago, I was excited when I saw four of
them in Wakodahatchee and they were only there for a couple
of days.
A pair of the whistling ducks were featured in ISSUE
52 of Picture to Ponder, with comments in ISSUE
53. At that time there was a discussion, again, on the unreal
appearance of the birds.
So you can imagine my excitement when we stopped in this weekend
at Green Cay, and were "greeted", not far from the
entrance to the boardwalk, with the sight of 6 of the black-bellied
whistling ducks on a 3 -limbed wood piece - a pair on each limb!

Duck Silhouette to see it. For a cutie, with a close-up
of a pair on one of the limbs, click on Whistling
Duck Pair - 605.
The black-bellied whistling duck shown here was the 7th one,
slightly apart from the others.
SELF-REFLECTING QUERY -
Contrasted with what we're seeing here - something that does
not look real and is, I'm reminded of how often we, as humans,
see things that are NOT real. We do make them so and then interact
with them as if they are real.
For instance, Sam was looking at some papers on the dining room
table the other day. He commented that we needed to put them
away. I made it mean I wasn't doing things right. He was making
demands on me, etc. etc., then started responding as if my interpretations
of his simple comment were, in fact, the reality.
Are there places right now where you are operating from the
interpretations you have made and now say are real? If so, have
you checked them out with the others who might be involved,
or with yourself?
