TODAY'S PHOTO - "TAKING
BABY STEPS",
Five little baby stilts were so cute scurrying around in Wakodahatchee
this morning, I simply had to share them with you. The two parents
were busy chirping, looking for and following them closely.
Last evening we watched one of them very protectively fly at
a moorhen, effectively chasing the latter.
So that you could see what a stilt looks
like, if you are unfamiliar with the bird, I've included a parent
in the photo above. Naturally the image is above is totally
out of proportion. For the "real" sizes, see stilt
family.
My message for this weekend, coming from this photo and experience,
is, "what baby steps might you take this weekend that would
give you pleasure and ultimately forward you, if that's what
you choose?"
My baby steps include leaving shortly to start a 4 week class
in Sogetsu Ikebana flower arrangement. It's the first flower
arranging class I've ever taken and the first artistically creative
class I've participated in in many years. I'm sure I will be
sharing some wonderful photos in the next few weeks.
I was mentally enrolled in this class over two months ago when
we saw a demonstration at the Morikami Museum. See Picture to
Ponder, Issues
54 and 55.
It has taken me over two months to actually register and it's
for the last class this season. Is there anything that you have
been putting off on which you can take action this weekend?
Remember, it might take "baby steps" and, more than
likely, there's someone, maybe even your strong self, who will
watch over and support you in it.
READER COMMENTS ON THE LAST ISSUE - Issue

"In response to your
pod-flower: my first thought, "Wow! The perfect floral
gift for Dan G.'s grand opening of his space-themed website!
[a YOU*U participant] This truly
looks like the flower is a flower for outer space."
I also love to ponder your thoughts about how we save our most
precious memories to savor in later years...Many times I write
short poems or just a paragraph, other times I use photos or
sketches. With some I just tell myself, "Remember this!".

"It's like a marvelous little satellite with its antennae
pulling in information. I almost hate to compare this flower
to anything, though. It's wonderful on its own." Mary
Gray
"This is s-o-o-o-o-o-o-o gorgeous!! I think I would die
of pleasure were I to see it in real life. I think it would
make a lovely wedding bouquet :~)" Debra Schanilec
