TODAY'S PHOTO -
As I was looking for my little green heron friend of yesterday,
or another bird, on the spatterdock roots, I saw a red image
in the water under the root. I took the picture thinking that
it could be a pretend moorhen with its red beak.
Once I looked at the photo on the screen, I saw, and continue
to see, an angel or a blowfish (not real), under the root above
the reflections, facing to the right.
NOTE: I left this image on my screen for a couple of hours and
just came back to it. I love the vibrancy of the photo and NOW
I see Little Red Ridinghood, with a green bonnet and a little,
"Miss Piggy" face.
In actuality the green "body" (or bonnet, depending
on how you are seeing it) is a small section of the underside
of the brown leaf. See Spatterdock
Root2 for a closer-up view.
Today, I invite you to find an unusual or unique image in one
of your environments.
READER COMMENTS ON THE LAST

Bob Tatem was our information source yesterday. He wrote:
"Did you know (according
to Birds of North America by Alsop that the green
heron has been known to place an insect that it caught on the
surface of the water as bait to catch a fish? Pretty smart
if you ask me! "
when I replied, asking him if he knows why the little green
heron is "called green" since I don't see any, or
much, green:
"Birds of Florida" by
Stan Tekiela (pg 275) says that the green heron has a blue-green
back, a rusty red neck and chest, a dark green crest and short
yellow legs. The yellow legs turn bright orange during breeding
season.."
Thanks, Bob, for
doing the research for me and for our subscribers.
