TODAY'S PHOTO -
as promised on Friday, a photo of an American Wood Duck in the
new Green Cay Wetlands in Boynton Beach, Florida. This single
wood duck has been spending his time with a family of mottled
ducks.
For the record, most of our bird knowledge comes from asking
questions of the photographers or binocular users, whom we pass
on our walks. At Green Cay, yesterday we saw, seemingly, hundreds
of fast flying small birds with which we were unfamiliar. Thinking
he probably knew, we asked a passing photographer, who was carrying
a camera with a huge lens. The answer, "Swallows!"
When you want information and google.com is not available, what
do you do to find it? Do you ask someone, pursue it or simply
forget it?
Green Cay. like Wakodatchee Wetlands, often referenced here,
is another Wetlands built by the Palm Beach County Water Utilities
Department for reclaiming water.
As written about in their
site, "The Green Cay Wetlands. . .when complete will
include approximately 175 acres of freshwater wetlands, an interpretive
nature center staffed by the County Parks and Recreation Department,
and more than two miles of elevated boardwalk trails. The Water
Utilities Department looks forward to additional capacity for
recycling water through natural water purification, increased
wetland wildlife habitat, open green space for people to enjoy,
and an educational facility that will teach the public about
water issues and the importance of wetlands in the South Florida
environment."
Open from dawn to dusk, seven days a week, the Nature Center,
which we have yet to visit, has limited hours. For you Florida
residents and potential visitors, I'm including a link to an
article
in The Palm Beach Post. Here you can find more details about
Green Cay, as well as travel directions and hours.
How fortunate Sam and I are to live so close to both locations.
What can you claim as the best things for you in the area in
which you live?

Responses to the Lantana flower photo were light. Interestingly,
we did hear from two different Debs with similar weather-related
responses!
Debra, in Michigan, wrote: "I love the shape of the
petals on these flowers, as well as the colors. Such a welcome
sight on another cold, winter day..."Exquisite! So delicate
and so powerful!" and
Deborah, in NJ, wrote: "Sheila this is so beautiful!!
I needed a touch of spring today."
I am so glad that you've all allowed me the privilege of sharing
with you the warmth and beauty that we experience almost daily
here in Florida. Thank you.

Tapping into the Transformative Power of Anger offered
by Adela Rubio, who states:
"Many of us were trained to believe that anger is a negative
emotion. It was something to be denied, suppressed,
ignored. We were taught to hide it from others and also from
ourselves. It wasnt nice, it wasnt good.
What if it held the seed of tremendous power? What if we approached
emotions in general as e-motion energy in motion? What
if our bodies, in their immense intelligence, were trying
to stir us into awareness? What if that awareness
was information about our Passion?."
