LAST ISSUE'S IMAGE (ISSUE
#52 )-
Whistling Ducks near the entrance of Wakodahatchee Wetlands.
LAST ISSUE'S IMAGERY
Surprisingly, when viewing the photo on my monitor,
the whistling ducks, as well as the whole scene, had an unreal
quality. Sam even asked if it was real. And, from our readers:
"Hard to accept as real! it looks like a painting..."
"Truth is stranger than fiction, and Nature can be odder
than imagination. I've seen decoy ducks that look "realer"
than these two waterfowl. I think it's the white rings around
the eyes that give them an unreal aspect."
Going with what seemed to be the theme, I was thinking
of creating some kind of conversation on "reality"
vs. "unreality" for this issue. Then last night
I received an e-mail from a first-time respondent:
"The following is what I view in this photo. Opposite
viewpoints. Curiosity vs. contentment. Taking the long view
vs. being willing to accept things as they are. Neither duck
is looking at the beautiful, peaceful view of the water which
has barely a ripple."
Very interesting! I loved the creative thinking and reading
what was expressed. Thus, with these comments I invite you,
if you wish, to revisit the
Whistling ducks photo and see what else might come up
for you.
Later this week, I will create a page on my web site of other
photos of whistling ducks . Then we can decide if it's the
duck or the camera magic that gives the illusion of unreality.
