So you have found yourself a broadcasting service to use, and now it's time to put your subscription form out to the world. Where do you put it? How do you present it? How creative can you get?

Placing Your Subscription Form
The obvious first place to put your subscription form is on every page of your website. If you're going for every page on your site, make the form obvious but subtle. Here are some examples:

I personally recommend that you place your form on every page, rather than a link to it. Keep in mind that when visitors come to your website, they are in a completely new environment that they have to adapt to. There is a pretty grand chance that they'll never see the link to your ezine! Why not build your subscription form right into your navigation?

To Pop Up or Not to Pop Up?
Personally, I can't stand pop ups. I avoid them like the plague, and use Mozilla as my browser with popup blocking always enabled. However, they do work, and they especially have a positive track record for subscriptions. If you do use a pop up, use it sparingly. For example, don't program it to load every time a visitor clicks through to a new page on your site. Decide if you want it to pop up on entry or exit, but avoid using it in both places.

Additionally, don't rely on the pop up as your only subscription form. Make sure to have a form hard wired into your web pages as well, as popup blockers become increasingly prevalent.

Other Ways to Present Your Subscription Form
Above we discussed the obvious. What are some less obvious ways to present your subscription form?

In the body or sidebar of your ezine, place your form and encourage your subscribers to forward it on to their friends.
Include a link to your subscription form in your email signature.
Do a swap with other ezine publishers.
Promote your ezine or newsletter on your business card or brochure with the URL of your subscription form. (Another reason to have your form on every page of your site!)

Get creative. There are very few limits on how and where to present your subscription form. Keep it subtle but prevalent, and watch your subscriptions grow!
